Common errors in English: Usage of Hanged and Hung

 Hanged and Hung 


Incorrect : The criminal was hung lasts week. 


Correct : The criminal was hanged last week.


Incorrect : We have hanged a picture on the wall.  


Correct : We have hung a picture on the wall.


Note: When ‘hang’ refers to fixing anything at the top so that the lower part is free, its past participle form (also past tense form) is 'hung’. On the other hand, when “hang” means to cause someone to die by dropping with a rope around the neck, its past participle form (also the past tense form) is “hanged'.
