Common errors in English: Usage of Hot and Heat

Hot and Heat


Incorrect : I can't Walk in this hot. 


Correct : I can't walk in this heat. Or I can't walk in this hot weather.


Incorrect : The tea is much too heat. 


Correct : The tea is much too hot.


Note: Hot is always an adjective and it cannot be used as a noun. Heat is a noun but it can also be used as a verb. You can say:


Please heat some milk for the tea. (verb)
