Common errors in English: Usage of Like and Alike

Like and Alike


Incorrect : She is alike her mother.


Correct : She is like her mother.


Incorrect : The two brothers are very much like.


Correct : The two brothers are very much alike.


Incorrect : I treat all of them like.


Correct : I treat all of them alike.


Note : ‘Like’ can be used as a preposition. But ‘alike’ can be used as an adjective or adverb, not as a preposition.
