Common errors in English: Usage of Remember and Remind

Remember and Remind

Incorrect : I shall always remind that day.

Correct : I shall always remember that day.

Incorrect: I have forgotten his name- will you remember me?

Correct : I have forgotten his name- will you remind me of it?

Note : “To remember' is to keep in the memory. “To remind' is to make someone remember something. Note the difference between remember + present participle and remember + to-infinitive. “I remember locking the door" means that I locked the door and can call this event to mind now. On the other hand, “I remembered to lock the door' means that it was in my mind that I must lock the door and I did it.
