Common errors in English: Usage of Able and Enable ( Different Between Able and Enable)

Able and Enable


Incorrect : The patient does not able to talk. 


Correct : The patient is not able to talk. Or The patient cannot talk.


Incorrect : The patient is enable to talk. 


Correct : The patient is unable to talk. Or The patient is not able to talk.


Note : Able is an adjective the antonym of which is unable, not enable. Enable is a verb. You can say:


This book will enable you to write correct English.
