Refuse and Refute


Incorrect : She refuted my invitation. 


Correct : She refused my invitation.


Incorrect : I refused all his arguments in the debate. 


Correct : I refuted all his arguments in the debate.


Note: When you refuse anything, you state your strong unwillingness to accept it. And when you refute anything, you prove that it is wrong.
