Common errors in English: Usage of Rob and kidnap

Rob and kidnap


Incorrect : The terrorists kidnapped his money. 


Correct : The terrorists robbed him of his money.


Incorrect : They robbed his son. 


Correct : They kidnapped his son.


Note: "To rob' means to take someone's property using force or threat. But 'to kidnap” means to take someone away illegally and usually by force in order to demand money for their return.
