When it is inflammable, it "can turn into flames," that is, it is prone to catching on fire, such as fumes from an oil truck, or methane gas. Inflammable gases can be lit by cigarettes, sparks, and so on, possibly causing an explosion such as the one that destroyed the Deepwater Horizon oil rig.
