Common errors in English: Usage of Condition and Situation

 Condition and Situation


Both these nouns can mean "state of affairs' or "circumstances'. You can say:


We are studying the economic condition/situation in the country.


But they are not always interchangeable.


Incorrect : The law and order condition in the country are deteriorating day by day. 


 Correct: The law and order situation in the country is deteriorating day by day.


Note: Situation suggests more general matters.
