Common errors in English: Usage of Attack + object

 Attack + object

Incorrect : They attacked against the enemy.

Correct : They attacked the enemy.

Note: 'Attack' in the correct sentence above is a transitive verb. But when you use it as a noun, you need a preposition after it. For example:

They suddenly made an attack on us.

The police are launching an attack on drug dealers.
