Position of persons
Incorrect : Only I and my friend were present there.
Correct: Only my friend and I were present there.
Note: English courtesy demands that when you speak of you and others, you should mention the other persons first and yourself last. But in confessing a fault, you should mention yourself first. For example:
I and my friend broke the window.
