Common errors in English: Usage of Interrogative Sentence structure

Interrogative Sentence structure


Incorrect : You were at school then? 


Correct : Were you at school then?


Incorrect : I am disturbing you? 


Correct : Am I disturbing you?


Note: In interrogative sentences the subject is used after the "be' verb or the auxiliary verb. However, if the question word itself is the subject, then it comes at the beginning of the sentence. For example:


Who went there? 

Who has done this work?
