Common errors in English: Usage of Never + auxiliary + Subject

 Never + auxiliary + Subject


Incorrect : Never I have met with such great kindness.


Correct : Never have I met with such great kindness.


Incorrect : Rarely I have seen such a lovely sunset. 


Correct :Rarely have I seen such a lovely sunset.


Incorrect : Seldom I have heard such a strange Story.  


Correct : Seldom have I heard such a strange story.


Incorrect : No sooner I had reached home than it began to rain.


Correct : No sooner had I reached home than it began to rain.


Incorrect : Not Only you can go there but you can also stay there.


Correct : Not only can you go there but you can also stay there.


Note: The word order of a sentence beginning with Never, seldom, no Sooner and not only is like that of a question. In the correct sentences above, the auxiliary verb comes before the subject.
