Common errors in English: Usage of Despite + noun

Despite + noun

Incorrect : He came to the meeting despite of his illness.

Correct : He came to the meeting despite his illness.

Note: The word "despite” itself is a preposition which does not take "of" after it. It can replace "in spite of”. But "despite' is more formal.
