Common errors in English: Usage of Enter + object

Enter + object

Incorrect : We entered into the building.

Correct: We entered the building.

Note: Here "enter” means "come or go in or into". In this sense, no preposition is needed after it. But when "enter” means 'take part in', you need a preposition after it. For example:

He entered into a debate/conversation with us.
