Common errors in English: Usage of Name of a disease

Name of a disease


Incorrect : The cholera is a dreadful disease. 


Correct : Cholera is a dreadful disease.


Incorrect : He is suffering from a diabetes. 


Correct : He is suffering from diabetes. 


Note: No article is used before the name of a disease. But the name of a common illness is preceded by an article. For example:


I have got a headache. 

He is suffering from a cold/fever.
