Common errors in English: Usage of About and Of

About and Of

Incorrect : Something should be done of terrorism.

Correct : Something should be done about terrorism.

Incorrect : This is a book about poems.

Correct :This is a book of poems.

Note: 'About' means 'on the subject of', whereas "of” usually means 'belonging to’. In the example above "a book of poems", however, means "a book containing poems”. A book about poems tells you something about poems.
