Common errors In English: Usage of Little and A Little

 Little and A Little


Incorrect: I ate a little food and felt very bad.


Correct : I ate little food and felt very bad.


Incorrect : I ate little food and felt better. 


Correct : I ate a little food and felt better,


Note : Both little and a little are used for uncountable nouns. Little refers to a very negligible amount and has a negative connotation, whereas a little refers to some and has a positive connotation.
