Common errors in English: Usage of Several and Some

Several and Some


Several and some can often be used interchangeably when you refer to more than a few countable things. For example:


Several/some newspapers published the story.


But-


Incorrect : I went there some times. 


Correct : I went there several times. 


Incorrect : He gave me several advice. 


Correct: He gave me some advice.


Note: Several cannot be used before any uncountable noun.
