Common errors in English: Usage of Live and Alive

 Live and Alive


Incorrect : Is your grandfather still live? 


Correct : Is your grandfather still alive?


Incorrect : The cat is playing with an alive rat.


Correct : The cat is playing with a live rat.


Note: Both live and alive mean not dead. But live is used attributively and alive is used predicatively.
