Common errors in English: Usage of Ill and sick

Ill and sick

Incorrect : He has been sick for about a month.

Correct : He has been ill for about a month.

Incorrect : The bad smell made me ill.

Correct : The bad smell made me sick.

Note: Ill means in bad health. Sick generally means having a tendency to vomit or temporarily indisposed. Again, ill cannot be used attributively. For example, you cannot say:

He is an ill man.

But sick can be used both attributively and predicatively.
