Common errors in English: Usage of Hurt and injured

Hurt and injured


Both these adjectives can be used in the sense of bodily damage. For example:


He was seriously hurt/injured in a motor accident. 


But-


Incorrect : She was badly injured by my unkind words. 


Correct : She was deeply hurt by my unkind words.


Note: Injured should not be used when you speak of the feeling of unhappiness caused by someone's behavior.
