Common errors in English: Usage of Cause and Reason

Cause and Reason


Incorrect : Reckless driving was the reason of the accident.


Correct : Reckless driving was the cause of the accident.


Incorrect : There is a good cause for his anger. 


Correct : There is a good reason for his anger.


Note: A cause is something which produces a result but a reason is something which explains or excuses an action.
