Across and Over
The prepositions “across” and “over” are both used to show movement from one side to another. For example:
She drove across/over the bridge. But -
Incorrect : She climbed across the fence.
Correct : She climbed over the fence.
Incorrect : He walked over the stage.
Correct : He Walked across the stage.
Note: “Over" is used when there is an idea of crossing something high, whereas 'across' is used when you refer to crossing a level surface.
