Common errors in English: Usage of Make + object + bare infinitive

Make + object + bare infinitive

Incorrect : The teacher made Salam to stand up on the bench.

Correct : The teacher made Salam stand up on the bench.

Incorrect : Don't make me to laugh.

Correct : Don't make me laugh.

Note: "Make' here means "force or cause a person to do something'. In this sense, "make' is always followed by a bare infinitive. But when the verb is used in the passive voice, "to' is used. For example:

She was made to wait for hours.

But if you use the verb "cause" even in the active voice, it is followed by an object and a "to-infinitive'. For example:

The earthquake caused the building to collapse.
