Common errors in English: Usage of Half a kilo....

Half a kilo....


Incorrect : She bought a half kilo of sugar. 

Correct : She bought half a kilo of sugar.


Incorrect : The half boys have already turned up. 

Correct : Half the boys have already turned up.


Note: "Half” is often used as a predeterminer which comes before the determiners a, an and the. You can, however, say:


I waited a half hour there.


In this sentence, "half” is an adjective, not a predeterminer.
