Common errors in English: Usage of “Etc.” means “and other things”

 “Etc.” means “and other things”

Incorrect: I, we, you, and etc. are pronouns.

Correct : I, we, you, etc. are pronouns.

Note : “Etc.” is the short form of “et cetera”. It is a Latin phrase which means "and other things'. The combination "and etc' would mean "and and other things' which is unacceptable. Students should not use "etc.' in their compositions. They should use phrases like "and other things”, “and the rest” and “and so on".
