Common errors in English: Usage of Do + es (auxiliary)

 Do + es (auxiliary)

Incorrect : Do Alan play/plays cricket?

Correct : Does Alan play cricket?

Note: In the simple aspect of the present tense, when the subject is third person singular, the auxiliary verb 'do' is inflected and becomes "does”. Then the main verb loses its inflection.
