Common error in English: Usage of Name of a day or month

Name of a day or month

Incorrect : The Friday is the last day of the week.

Correct : Friday is the last day of the week.

Incorrect : The January is the first month of the year.

Correct : January is the first month of the year.

Note: "The” is not used before the names of days and months. However, 'the' may or may not be used before the name of a season. For example:

I shall go there in (the) spring.

But when we refer to a particular day or month, we use the definite article. For example:

He visited me the Sunday before last.

The December of 1985 is memorable in my life.
