Frightened and Afraid
As predicative adjectives, frightened and afraid are often used interchangeably. For example:
I am afraid/frightened of snakes.
But-
Incorrect : I helped the afraid boy.
Correct : I helped the frightened boy.
Note: Afraid is always used predicatively but frightened can be used both attributively and predicatively.
