Common errors in English: Usage of Hot and Warm

Hot and Warm


Incorrect : The handle is too warm to touch. 


Correct : The handle is too hot to touch.


Incorrect : It's a lovely hot room. 


Correct : It's a lovely warm room.


Note : Hot suggests a higher temperature than warm and gives a feeling of discomfort but warm suggests a pleasantly high temperature and gives a feeling of comfort.
