Common errors in English: Usage of Repetition of the subject

Repetition of the subject

Incorrect : When he saw the teacher, stood up.

Correct : When he saw the teacher, he stood up.

Note: When a complex sentence begins with an adverbial clause, the personal pronoun as the subject of the principal clause cannot be omitted. But the subject of the co-ordinate clause in a compound sentence may be omitted. For example:

He saw the teacher and stood up.
