Common errors in English: Usage of Search for Something.

Search for something


Incorrect : Alan is searching the ball. 


Correct : Alan is searching for the ball. 


Note: "To search for a thing' means "to look for a thing'. But "search” (without a preposition) can be used in this way: 


The policeman searched his house.
