Common errors in English: Usage of Want someone to do something

 Want someone to do something


Incorrect: I want to tell me the truth. 


Correct : I want you to tell me the truth.


Incorrect: I don't like to help me. 


Correct : I don't like her to help me.


Note: With finite verbs like “want", "like' etc the subject of the infinitive must be mentioned if it is different from the subject of the finite verb. In the examples above, "you" is the subject of the infinitive “to help".
