Common errors in English: Usage of Wait for someone/something.

 Wait for someone/something


Incorrect : I shall wait you there. 

Correct : I shall wait there for you.


Incorrect : He was waiting this moment. 

Correct : He was waiting for this moment. 


Note: You can wait for a person or thing. It is an intransitive verb. But “await' is a transitive verb which

can take an object without any preposition. For example:


I shall await you there. 

I am awaiting your reply.


You can await a person or thing.
