Common errors in English: Usage of Take and Get

Take and Get

Incorrect : I got a book from the library. 

Correct : I took a book from the library.

Incorrect : He took a high mark in English. 

Correct : He got a high mark in English.

Note: You can also say, “He received a high mark in English'. You get or receive anything which someone gives or sends you. But "to take' means to obtain anything intentionally or by force. For example, you can say:

The army took the city.
