Pick and Pick up
Incorrect : The girl was picking up flowers in my garden.
Correct : The girl was picking flowers in my garden.
Incorrect : The book fell down on the floor and I picked it.
Correct : The book fell down on the floor and I picked it up.
Note: "Pick' means ‘gather' but ‘pick up' means to lift up from the ground.
