Common errors in English: Usage of Mount + object

 Mount + object


Incorrect : He mounted on his horse. 


Correct . He mounted his horse.


Note: Here ‘mount’ means ‘get on'. It does not take any preposition after it. But you can say:


The soldiers were mounted on fine black horses.
