Common errors in English: Usage of Be + present participle

 Be + present participle


Incorrect : Alan watching television now. 

Correct : Alan is watching television now.


Incorrect : He sleeping then. 


Correct : He was sleeping then. 


Note: The present participle form of a verb (base form + ing) can be used in different tenses. According to the tense, an appropriate auxiliary verb must be used before it.
