1) The Benefit Of The Doubt-a concession that a person or statement must be regarded as correct or justified, if the contrary has not been proven-

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as to whether it was deliberate or not.

2) Pass The Torch-to transfer or bestow one's position or responsibilities to someone else-

Because Gina is retiring, she is passing the torch to me as head of the department.

3) Crowning Glory-the best and most notable aspect of something-

The scene is the crowning glory of this marvelously entertaining show.

4) A Breath Of Fresh Air-someone or something that is new and different and makes everything seem more exciting-

After dating a series of boring men, Sarah found Peter's adventurous nature to be like a breath of fresh air.

5) Rub Someone The Wrong Way-to annoy someone-

He was known as an arrogant player who rubbed his teammates the wrong way.

6) Play Cat And Mouse-to try to defeat someone by tricking that person into making a mistake so that you have an advantage over them-

7)Call Someone's Bluff-to demand that someone prove a claim-I don't know why he keeps making these outrageous claims.

You should have heard my toddler scream the place down when she dropped her ice cream.

11) Go Spare-become extremely angry or distraught-

He'd go spare if he lost the money again.

12) Hobson's Choice-the choice between taking what is offered and getting nothing at all-

If you want a yellow car, it's Hobson's choice. The garage has only one and it is already rented out.

13) Bird Of Passage-a person who remains unfixed to a certain location, relocating from one place to another-

The economy has forced me to become a bird of passage, moving around the state to wherever I can find work.

14) Fill Someone's Shoes-to replace one in some role, to take over for one in some position-

You do so much for the company that I don't see how anyone could fill your shoes.

15) Have Egg On Your Face-to look stupid because of something that you have done-

This latest scandal has left the government with egg on its face.

16) Have Designs On-to pursue someone or something, often for selfish reasons-

I don't trust him because I think he has designs on my job.

17) Curry Favor With Someone-to try to win favor from someone-

The lawyer tried to curry favor with the judge.

18) Keep One's Nose Clean-stay out of trouble-

He tried to keep his nose clean with socially useful work.

19) Let Sleeping Dogs Lie-to leave a situation alone so as to avoid worsening it-

Oh, don't mention that fight they had months ago - let sleeping dogs lie!

20) Off One's Rocker-crazy, mentally unsound, extremely foolish-

You must be off your rocker if you think that's a good idea!
