Common errors in English: Usage of Comparative degree.

Comparative Degree


Incorrect . Of the two books this one is the best. 


Correct : Of the two books this one is the better.


Incorrect : Alan is the tallest of the two boys. 


Correct : Alan is the taller of the two boys.


Note : When we compare two persons or things, we must use the comparative degree, not the superlative.
