Common errors in English: Usage of One and a half hours

One and a half hours


Incorrect : One and a half hours was spent in doing that work. 


Correct : One and a half hours were spent in doing that work.


Note: In English, anything greater than one is plural, even if it is less than two.


Incorrect: He ate one and a half banana.


Correct : He ate one and a half bananas.
